I FEEL GOOD 'CUZ I'M A PHI MU!
so I'm back and let me tell you no amount of descriptive words can amount to how great and how life-changing Phi Mu National Convention was. I wish for all the members of my chapter to go next time because it makes you look past the pettiness and more towards the greatness of us as an organization. I met 4 incredible Phi Mu Ladies:
Marion- from Berkely...initiated 1933! has gone to every national convention since she was initiated. a math teacher and now she tours the US giving speeches. She was a great woman and we had a great conversation during dinner one night. She got down my address and took a pic of theta gamma and the greater miami alums reps. I can't wait to get a letter from her!!
Buzz- now i'm not sure what chapter she was from but she has been to 22 Conventions! (keep in mind conventions happen every other year). Her pledge sister was Perky which I will tell you about later. She had donated over $75,000 to Phi Mu Foundation, part of the 1852 society, AND the Fidelity Circle!! She was also the funniest out of everyone
Perky- my new Phi Mu idol! Her pledge sister was Buzz and even wore Buzz's wedding dress in her wedding!! She also attends almost every convention with Buzz. She has been to 27 conventions. Donated over $100,000 to Phi Mu Foundation, part of the 1852 society, fidelity society, and she recieved the golden circle! I got her information so I will be writing to her to find out more about her because she was just such an inspiration to me!
Leona- from Sarasota. She has been to exactly 31 conventions and has given OVER A MILLION dollars toward the Phi Mu Foundation. she's part of the 1852 society, and fidelity society.
This is what I want to live up to one day. I'm already a Foundation Member (giving over $500 so far! go me!) and part of the Sir Fidel Circle. In the next two months I'll be entering the Legacy League and when I get 'old enough' to write my will, I will be putting in some money in there for Phi Mu to become a member of the Fidelity Society. And in 4 years I will be a member of Trestrella within Phi Mu (which btw Eilie, a theta gamma alum, was initiated into Trestrella this week!)
Phi Mu is forever and I'm going to live it up! There are so many wonderful people that I met and witnessed a National Memorial and Initiation Service. It was breath taking!!
I met some great women, had great conversations, and made amazing bonds: Sarah Marks (well we had a connection already, but now we have a better one), Monica Vega (she is Area 1 Chapter Association Director and an alum of Theta Gamma)..AMAZING woman!! I know she'll mentor me into moving up in the Phi Mu world!!, Jennifer Wu--our new national Vice President! she is an amazing woman with an amazing story, Kris Bridges our National NPC delegate, she's great. I look up to her.
I also "invested" some money into raffle tickets and came home with two baskets! lol i won't tell you how much but was definetly guaranteed to win SOMETHING hahha.
The hotel was huge and expensive. Licett and I went out to eat on our "free friday night" to Ristorante Volaire. Yeah, $66.00 later for one plate.... lol we ran home and promised never to eat in a restaurant in a hotel again lol. But then we went to Findleys on our last night to celebrate our week. It was an Irish Pub. They had a live band playing the funniest songs I have ever heard...we just had chips and drinks lol. no food! hahaha
I had a blast!!!
I AM PROUD TO BE A PHI MU!!
